A new Line of jewellery launching today by Eamon ó Broin Jewellery. Celestial draws inspiration from cycles of the earth, sun, moon and stars & how these cycles influence & shape our earthly lives. The constellation of Orion stands tall in the northern hemisphere rising in the east from September through March. Unchanging, Ancient, Sentient, warrior like echoing across time. Many mythologies speak of Orion including the Egyptian, Mayan and Neolithic people. The Egyptians speak of ascending to Orion in the afterlife and built pyramids mirroring the belt stars.

I wonder if it is possible to ascend there in this lifetime without leaving the ground.

The yearly orbit of the earth around the sun gives us an everchanging gallery of celestial objects in the night sky. Many standing stones from the past accurately track movements on important dates throughout the year, such as the winter & summer solstice. The Light from the sun directed onto stones acting as a marker or beacon.  The earth is orbiting a star we call the Sun, and the sun is rising and setting against a backdrop of stars we call the zodiac, which contains 12 signs. Month by month the backdrop of stars changes which gives us Astrology. The Earth has an axis of 23.5 degrees. What stars the earths axis points at is also very slowly changing over a greater cycle known as the precession of the Equinoxes, which takes approximately 25,920 earth years. We are currently leaving the age of Pisces (2160 years approx.) and moving into Aquarius. Ancient cultures all over the world were very much in tune with this greater cycle and left structures encoding this information. Everything in life seems impermanent, yet these cycles seem to go on. There is something within that is unchanging throughout our lives. Orion is like a mirror of this unchanging view. It turns up on time, never late, and seems to have been there forever.

Geometry is an ancient language. It communicates a message across time. It points to an underlying order or harmony in all of creation. It is within us. The golden ratio, the Fibonacci sequence encoded in the human body point to a harmonic intelligent design. If we go out to the planets and look at their orbits over time using mathematics and geometry, we also find a language of symmetry. Using geometry on a two-dimensional surface will eventually lead to harmonic numbers which gives rise to vibration and sound. Those who came before us left this knowledge in stone. The vesica Pisces is the center of two equal circles drawn on a flat plane. It is the center or the beginning of the flower of Life or seed of Life. The vesica symbolizes the magic created by two opposite dimensions united in empty space. If we travel to any cathedral or stone temple from the ancient world we will find it in use, hidden in plain sight. I wanted to honour this ancient knowledge by creating a line of jewellery which draws inspiration from what is above to bring it back down to Earth.
