Eye Of Horus - a symbol for Protection

The Eye of Horus was one of the most common amulets of ancient Egypt. This highly stylized eye of the falcon-head, solar and sky god Horus/Ra is associated with regeneration, health, and prosperity. As time elapsed Ra, the Supreme Solar God was identified as the sun god and according to ancient Egyptian mythology, the right eye came to represent the sun and so it was called the "Eye of Ra"

Another name for the eye is udjat or utchat, meaning "sound eye."

According to Egyptian legend Horus lost his left eye during a fight with his murderous uncle, Seth to revenge his father's death. Seth tore out his nephew's eye but lost the fight because the assembly of the gods declared Horus the victor. The eye was reassembled by the magic of Thoth.  Then Horus gave the eye to Osiris who experienced rebirth in the underworld.

As an amulet the Eye of Horus has three versions: a left eye, a right eye, and two eyes. The eye is constructed in fractional parts, with 1/64 missing, a piece that Thoth added with magic.  In ancient Egypt the eye was used as an amulet as protection against evil and rebirth in the underworld. When worn as Jewellery fashioned of gold, silver, lapis, wood, porcelain, or carnelian the eye served to ensure safety, protect health, and provide the wearer with wisdom and prosperity; it was called the "all-seeing Eye." Other attributes associated with it are terror and wrath; some myths tell that the eye seems to assume a personality of its own, swooping down from the sky to right wrongs.

Lore of the Inuit peoples claim Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis, an ordinary stone that transforms to the extraordinary, shimmering in a mystical light that separates the waking world from unseen realms. It is, in every sense, a Stone of Magic, a crystal of shamans, diviners, healers, and all who travel and embrace the universe seeking knowledge and guidance. For self-discovery, it is excellent for awakening one's own awareness of inner spirit, intuition and psychic abilities. Labradorite is also the most powerful protector of the mineral kingdom, creating a shielding force throughout the aura and strengthening natural energies from within. It protects against the negativity and misfortunes of this world and provides safe exploration into alternate levels of consciousness and in facilitating visionary experiences from the past or the future.

Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family and is treasured for its remarkable play of colour, known as labradorescence. The stone, usually grey-green, dark grey, black or greyish white, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, pale green, or coppery red. The predominant blue varies within the light, displaying hues from deepest blue to various shades of pale, almost blue green. It was discovered in Labrador, Canada, by Moravian missionaries in 1770 who named it for the area. It is, however, referenced in legends by older Inuit tribes, and was known to be in use by the Boethuk peoples of Newfoundland and Labrador. It became a popular gem in Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Wearing or carrying Labradorite allows one's innate magical powers to surface. It enhances the mental and intuitive abilities of clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy and coincidence control, and assists in communication with higher guides and spirits in accessing Akashic records, psychic readings and past-life recall. It provides an ease in moving between the worlds and permits a safe and grounded return to the present.
