As the Light enters Newgrange around the morning of Winter Solstice a triple spiral carving on a stone at the rear passage is illuminated. The Lightshow enters the roof box and crawls along the passage for 17 minutes. Testament to precision engineering at it's finest 5000 years ago. Our ancestors combined sacred geometry, stellar observation and fine tuned observation to create a marker within the landscape which would signal the turning of the year. Narrowing the light into a shaft pin points the time of the year in the heavens when Light will grow again.
Knowledge of the cycles of cross quarter and quarter days advance astronomical understandings of greater cycles such as precession of the equinoxes. Imagination is the blueprint for Artistic and functional participatory Design. Evidently operating in Newgrange and the surrounding landscape 3200BC.
This piece is crafted from recycled 925 sterling silver. It weighs approx. 18grams. the diameter of the pendant is 28mm. Quite a heavy piece and built to last. Hallmarked.
